The first edition of the monthly O’Jez Entertainment Forum (OEF), for 2011 will feature respected journalist, ace filmmaker and public affairs analyst cum social critic, Mr. Zik Zulu Okafor. The anticipated evening of fun, relaxation and high-level networking holds on Sunday, January 30, at the upscale O’Jez Entertainment Centre, tucked inside the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, from 7pm.

Okafor, a former national president of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), and producer of the critically acclaimed television soap Heaven’s Gate, was nominated by the forum’s committee, headed by Nollywood star Zach Orji for his invaluable contributions to the growth of the nation’s movie industry.

The head honcho of O’Jez, Mr. Joseph Odobeatu, described Okafor as a professional and passionate filmmaker with a proven track record. He equally lauded Okafor for the many developmental articles he had written on Nigeria. “Mr. Zik Zulu Okafor is one Nigerian that has really done well for himself and the country and in order to appreciate him, we at O’Jez decided to give him our biggest award, which we give to rare people, the O’Jez plaque.

All the top highlife artistes will as usual perform to give it the taste that the event has been associated with since it started over a decade ago,” added Odobeatu. Comedians MC Shakara, Mr. Patrick and D’ Lectura will all perform as well as Awilo the dancer. Nollywood star entertainer, Charles Inojie who is fast building a reputation as a master compere will handle proceedings, while Pa Fatai Rolling Dollar, Alaba Pedro, Tunde Osofisan backed by the Evergreen Band, will thrill all to undiluted highlife music.

Meanwhile, the special host of the evening is Nollywood star and former national president, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Ejike Asiegbu, while other celebrities are also expected to grace the gathering.
Okafor in his acceptance of the invitation said he was humbled by the gesture.

“That a forum like O’Jez deemed it fit to honour me for the little I have done for the industry. I am humbled and touched. I feel really honoured to be associated with O’Jez and will receive the award on Sunday, January 30, with all humility.”
